For Candace Liebertz executive director of Galia Recovery Homes, the answer is courage, lived experience, and an unwavering belief that everyone deserves a place to belong.
A recovered addict turned housing advocate, Candace has spent [18] years creating safe, supported homes for men and women in recovery — and for members of the community who simply need a little extra support to reclaim their best life. Her work has brought together neighbors, community leaders, investors, and mental health professionals around a shared vision: that recovery doesn't happen in isolation. It happens in community.
On [6-1-26], Candace will bring that message to [Downtown Vancouver Rotary Club] with her talk, A Place at the Table: On Welcoming Clean and Sober Care Homes Into Our Communities. Drawing on her own journey and the stories of those she serves, she will speak to the power of second chances, the importance of community support, and what happens when fear gives way to understanding.
